JSKA World Championship Arrangements
Hello to all our students and parents.
As you know the JSKA World Karate Championships are being held this year in Manchester. The weekend of 22nd -24th Aug 2008.
We are hoping that all our students will attend either as supporters or as competitors. The event is not just for the best but a chance for everyone to compete in this most prestigious event.
I know that the sheets and information all looks confusing, so I am here trying to simplify things.
The event is open to all juniors aged 8 years or older of any grade by the date of the championship.
The junior will however have to know Heian Nidan for the kata event.
If your child has a red belt then the chances are they know the kata.
For fighting, it’s just like they do in their gradings.
There is free fighting for those students who are brown belt and black belt.
Adults have to be at least brown belt to compete in kata or kumite and any grade to support the team.
The training on the Friday 22nd August is open to all ages and all grades.
We are holding mini tournaments on the first Friday of each month where students can practice for the championship. We are also doing 30 mins training after each normal lesson where we will practice for the championship; again these sessions are open to all students. We also have our own championship on the 6th, 7th and 8th of June 2008. Please see the news letter and web site for full details.
Travel and accommodation, as students and parents will have their own agenda in regard to when they can go to and how long they can stay in Manchester, each student, and parent should make their own arrangements for both travel and accommodation.
As a team we will all meet up at the venue. On the Friday for those also training, Saturday and Sunday for the championship.
We are also going to hold our annual JSKA UK Championship early this year. This will allow all students to gain some more experience. The JSKA UK Championship will be held over the weekend of 6th, 7th and 8th of June. All profits from this event will go towards the JSKA UK team competing in Manchester. So the more students we have at this event the more money we raise for the team.
